Margaret "Peggy" Theresa Moran passed away at Carebridge in Jacksonville, on Sunday, June 23, 2013, at the age of 81. Peggy was born on March 24, 1932, the middle child of Clifford and Elizabeth Weatherwax in Pittsfield, Mass. She was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Peggy leaves behind her beloved husband of 59 years, Joseph Lampshire Moran. She leaves three much loved children, Jane White and her husband Christopher of Weston, Mass., Karen Kuhn and her husband John of Sheffield, Mass., and David Moran and his wife Nancy of Maysville. Mason and Peter White, Jacob, Rebecca and Eric Kuhn, and Daniel and Johnathan Moran cherished her as a grandmother. Her dear sister, Mary Ann Simpson lives in Conover.
She was predeceased by her sister, Elizabeth Russo and treasured by many nieces and nephews.
Peggy moved from Pittsfield, Mass., to Pawley's Island, S.C., 30 years ago where she continued to live her vibrant, active life. She was a deacon of her church, an avid golfer and tournament winner and used her terrific sense of humor to entertain all. She could fix anything from a toaster to a broken heart. Her patient love penetrated the hearts of everyone she met. There were no enemies in her life. Her grandson likened her to a wonderful evening stroll on the beach, she was as supportive as the soft sand under your feet, had an energy like a warm breeze and a voice as soft and kind as the ocean waves lapping against the shore.
She will be sorely missed by all.
A memorial service and a celebration of life for Peggy Moran will be held in the Pittsfield area in August. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. www.Alzfdn.org.
