HUBERT - Reba Davis Howell, age 99, of Hubert died at her residence Friday, Feb. 22, 2013.
Visitation will be Sunday, Feb. 24, 2013 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home, Swansboro.
A Funeral Service will be held at 3 p.m. following the visitation at Jones Funeral Home Chapel-Swansboro with Dr. Gerald Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow on Monday, Feb. 25, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Westview Cemetery, Kinston.
She is survived by a daughter, Nelda Howell of Hubert; one son, John Franklin "Johnny" Howell, Jr. of Hubert and his partner, Maureen Sneyd of New Bern; one sister, Louise Harper and her husband Earl of Kinston; a brother in law, Marvin Howell and his wife Clara of Jacksonville;
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest Davis and Nancy Stanley Davis; her husband, John Franklin "Frank" Howell, Sr. a grandson, John Franklin Howell, III; Sisters, Ruth Davis Howard and her husband Bob Howard of Pink Hill, Edna Davis Harper and her husband, Jack Harper of Kinston, Elizabeth Marie Davis of Kinston; brothers, Horace Davis and his wife Laura Smith Davis of Kinston, Maurice Davis and his wife Hazel Hussey Davis of Kinston; 10 brothers in laws and sister in laws and their spouses; numerous nieces and nephews.
She was born Oct. 7, 1913 in the Moss Hill Community of Lenoir County, NC. Reba and her husband Frank purchased their farm over 64 years ago in Hubert where they lived and worked together until Frank's death in 1983 and there she spent her remaining years.
The family would like to thank her many friends and relatives who have shown compassion toward her during her lifetime and especially during her last months of illness as well as Onslow Memorial Hospital and Continuum Home Care and Hospice staff and nurse Tami, and special friends Rosa Morris, Carla Erickson, Rita Tanguary, Carolyn Bryan and Florence Dingess.
