Robert Carnaghan

Robert Desmond "Bob" Carnaghan, 87, of Sneads Ferry went home on May 12, 2014, to spend eternity with his Lord.
Bob was an Attorney and Vice President with Fidelity and Deposit Co. of Maryland; a United States Navy veteran of WWII; and was also an active member with Emmanuel Baptist Church, Cedar Point. He was also a loving grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Edwin Carnaghan and Lydia Itter Carnaghan.
Bob is survived by his wife, Frances H. Carnaghan of the home; a daughter, Kathleen Goriup and son in law Terry Saude of Wilmington; a granddaughter, Kalin Goriup of Wilmington; three sisters, Patricia Huber and husband George of Hampstead, Eileen Diffendall of New Holland, Pa., Gwendolyn Berger of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; and dearest friend, Pat Kenyon of Mebane.
Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, May 15 at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville, with funeral services following at 1 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, Jacksonville with Pastor Steve Wakefield officiating. Burial will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with military honors by the United States Navy.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice Foundation, 1414 Physicians Drive, Wilmington, NC 28401 or to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 120 Bell Street, Cedar Point, NC 28584.
