Ted Jay Jones, 66, of Jacksonville, died Dec. 1, 2012, at Vidant Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 7 at the Protestant Chapel aboard Camp Johnson with the Rev. Ruffus Johnson officiating.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 30 years and retired as a master gunnery sergeant. He worked for the N.C. Department of Corrections, was vice president of Montford Point Association and member of Chapter 10 VFW and NABVETs.
Survivors include his wife, Gretchen Dee Jones of Jacksonville; sons, Ted Jones of Charlotte, Jamar Jones of Raleigh and Dexter Jones of Jacksonville; sisters, Rose Simpson, Willa Peterson, Jeanette Williams and Siritha Jones, all of Pittsburgh; brothers, Roosevelt Jones of Spartanburg, S.C., and Clauzell Jones of New Castle, Pa.; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Saunders Funeral Home.
