Alcester Harris Obituary
Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at Bryant Chapel AME Zion Church with the Rev. Brian T. Cornelius officiating. Interment follows in the church cemetery.
She graduated from St. Augustine College and East Carolina University. She was a teacher for 31 years with New Bern-Craven, Pamlico and Nash County School Systems and member of Bryant Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jesse Harris Sr. of the home; son, Jesse Harris Jr. of Knightdale; sister, Janie Spellman of New Bern.
Viewing will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at Rivers-Morgan Funeral Home, New Bern. The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Friday and other times at the residence.
