Jacksonville – Arthur "Rat" James Kellum, 88, loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, passed from this life on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, at CarolinaEast Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, March 3 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, Jacksonville with the Rev. Bobby Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park.
Mr. Kellum was born in Onslow County and was the son of Willie and Mollie Kellum. He was a veteran of World War II, seeing action in the European Theater, serving with the U.S. Army.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Judy Kellum Williams; brother, Willie Lee Kellum Jr.; and sister, Ella Mae Kellum.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Florence Kellum; his daughter, Kay Harkins and her husband, Richard of Jacksonville; son, Leonard Kellum and his wife, Shirlene of Jacksonville; two sisters, Clenda Bright and Dorothy Williams, both of Jacksonville; three grandchildren, Crystal Morton, Richard Harkins and Michael Kellum; six great-grandchildren, Matthew Morton, Jonathan Morton, Logan Morton, Owen Morton, Kaiden Harkins and Madison Kellum.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday night at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville.
