Bertha "Mama B" Waters Harris, 98, of Kinston, passed away Friday, Jan. 17, 2014. Bertha was born May 12, 1915 in Greene County to the late Mott Waters and Dolly Butts Waters. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 55 years, Jesse Ray Harris; her brother, Leslie Waters; her sisters, Vivian Smith and Mabel Kennedy; and her grandson, Grayling Harris Letchworth. She was a dedicated farmer's wife who loved her family dearly. She was very active in her church and enjoyed her flowers.

Survivors include her son, Allen Ray Harris and wife Marjorie; her daughters, Dean Mercer, Pinky Letchworth and husband Bobby and Nancy Harris Tripp; special granddaughter, Vicki Baker; nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 20, 2014 at Hugo FWB Church with Dr. Charles Russell, the Rev. Tom Miller and the Rev. Clara Belle officiating. Visitation will follow the service and other times at the home of Dean Mercer. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2014 at Westview Cemetery.
