JACKSONVILLE, N.C. | Harold L. Waters, born Jan. 13, 1935, in Jacksonville, the son of Omah and Odell Waters, died Saturday, June 7, 2014. Following graduation from Jacksonville High School in 1953, Harold attended and graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1957 with an undergraduate degree. He went on to earn his Juris Doctor with honors in 1960.
Following service with the JAG Corps, he was employed by the North Carolina Attorney General's Office in Raleigh until 1965. At that time, he returned to Jacksonville as a partner in the law firm of Ellis, Hooper, Warlick and Waters and then as a solo practitioner from January 1990 until his death.
He is survived by his wife, Faye; his daughter, Becky Waters Holt of Raleigh; sons, William "Hal" Waters and his wife, Heather of Jacksonville and John Waters and his wife, Sherry of Wilmington. He also is survived by grandsons, Avery and Satchel Waters and granddaughters, Katie Holt and Ruby Waters.

Memorial services will be held in Jacksonville at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, June 11 at Trinity United Methodist Church, followed by a reception at the church. All are invited to attend.
