MGySgt James "Jim" Joseph Petrongelli, 46, of Jacksonville, passed away Thursday at Onslow Memorial Hospital. Jim was a dedicated father, husband, brother, son, Marine, friend and avid outdoorsman. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and an active member of the MCAS New River chapel.

Jim is survived by his wife, Annette Petrongelli of Jacksonville; his children, Stephanie Petrongelli of Beaufort, S.C., Alyssa Petrongelli of Jacksonville, Angela Petrongelli of Jacksonville, James Petrongelli Jr. of Jacksonville, and Joseph Petrongelli of Jacksonville; his parents, Joseph and Lorraine Petrongelli of Chicago Heights, Ill.; his sisters, Sally McDonnell of South Chicago Heights, Ill., Jane DeBondt of Chicago, Ill., and Alice Wolff of Chicago Heights, Ill.; his in laws, Jose and Alma Pruneda of Jacksonville; and a great number of extended family and friends.

A visitation for Jim will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday evening at Johnson Funeral Home of Jacksonville. Services will be held at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday morning at the MCAS New River Chapel. Interment will follow the service on Wednesday at Coastal Carolina Veterans Cemetery.
