Rosamond Bradshaw Gardner, 94, passed away peacefully at her home in Cape Carteret on Nov. 26, 2013. Rosamond was born in Kinston on Dec. 15, 1918, to the late James Walter Bradshaw and Bertha Mae Pollock Bradshaw. She married Jack Alexander Gardner on June 21, 1941. They had two children, Jack Jr. and Debra. Through her life Rosamond was a refined and energetic lady who enjoyed playing golf, gardening, reading, dancing, cooking, traveling, playing cards, socializing with friends, and spending time with her family. Predeceased before her were her husband, Jack; and son, Jack Jr.
Surviving is her daughter Debra Dukes and husband Jim, of Cape Carteret, and daughter-in-law, Chris Gardner of Cape Carteret; four grandchildren, Alex, Jennie, Lori, and Matthew; nine great-grandchildren; Kayla, Alisha, Cody, Jacob, Madison, Ayden, Grace, Heidi, and Elizabeth; one great-great-grandchild, Jack.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8 in Maplewood Cemetery, Kinston. In lieu of flowers, the family request you make a donation in Rosamond's name to the "Friends of the North Carolina Library for the Blind and Handicapped." FNCLBPH, 1841 Capital Boulevard, Raleigh, NC 27635.
