JACKSONVILLE -- Buren Dallas ""Sam"" Samuels, 86, (USMC Ret.) went to be with the Lord and his beautiful wife of 51 years on 15 April 2014, at Vidant Medical Center, Greenville.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, April 21 at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel with the Rev. Mike Shivar officiating. Burial, with full military honors, will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Mr. Samuels was retired sergeant in the USMC and served in the Korean War. He is a member of the Chosin Few. He was also a founding member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Samuels was the son of the late Irene and Roy Samuels. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Della Lorraine Willaford Samuels and numerous brothers and sisters.
Survivors include his two daughters, Frann Samuels Dickerson and husband, Danny of Maysville and Patty Samuels Williams and her husband, Frankie of Newport; two sons, Allen Samuels and his wife, Jeannie of Arlington, Neb., and Ronald Samuels and his wife, Angie of Jacksonville; two sisters, Patricia Samuels Ditsch of Osceola, Ind., and Wilma Samuels Dunnings of South Bend, Ind.; one brother, Aubrey Samuels of Nebo; and six grandchildren, Crystal Dickerson Jenkins and her husband, Andrew, Katlyn Dickerson, Ashley Williams, Stephen Samuels, Lyle Teneyck and Cameron Teneyck.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening, April 19th at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville and at other times, at the family home, 145 Haws Run Road, Jacksonville.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Galilee Missionary Baptist Church, 1522 Burgaw Hwy, Jacksonville, NC 28540.
