JACKSONVILLE, N.C. | Matthew Hamilton, age 90, went to his heavenly home on Saturday, June 14, 2014 at his residence.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2014, at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, Jacksonville. Reverend Jim Kelly and Reverend Mike Schwalm will be officiating and burial will follow at Onslow Memorial Park.

Mr. Hamilton was born in Onslow County and was the son of the late Joseph and Dennie Gurganus Hamilton. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Navy. He was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather and was preceded in death by his wife, Edna Bryan Hamilton and two sisters, Dorothy Taylor and Nan Gerrity. He leaves his daughter, Pamela C. Hamilton of Jacksonville, N.C.; one sister; Nell Gaylor of Jacksonville, one granddaughter, April Kaufman and four great-grandchildren to cherish his memory.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. till 8 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville on Thursday, June 19, 2014.
