Florence Butts Blanchard, 86, passed away June 13, 2014, in Mexia, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June 18 at Jones Funeral Home in Swansboro. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
Visitation with the family will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 17th at Jones Funeral Home, Swansboro.
Florence was born Oct. 15, 1927, in Sodus, N.Y., to Morris F. and Florence Butts. She graduated from Sodus High School and received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Rochester. Florence was administrative assistant to the personnel director at Cornell University for many years before retiring.
Florence enjoyed a variety of hobbies; she loved to sew, cross stitch, all types of hand work and making baskets. She was also an avid gardener, enjoyed collecting shells while walking on the beach and playing the piano. However, Florence first priority was her family. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond Blanchard; daughter and son-in-law, Jacqueline and James Turcsik; brother, Robert Butts; sister, Julia Barnes; and brother-in-law, Martin Barnes.
Florence is survived by her daughter, Valerie Lang and husband, Michael of Mexia, Texas; granddaughter, Jennifer Quinn of Mexia; grandsons, Jay Turcsik and wife, Kimberely of Elmira, N.Y., and Jeremy Lang and wife, Julie of Ft. Worth, Texas; sister-in-law, Janis Butts of New York; great-grandchildren, Colton and Garrett Quinn, Alexa and Lauren Turcsik and Bryce Lang; and a number of nieces and nephews.
