OAK GROVE, N.J. - Josephine Vizzinni Ristow, 69, left this life July 28, 2011, at home in Ocean Grove, N.J.
Josephine was born in Trenton, N.J., and lived in Yardville, Belmar, Arlington, Va. the Azores, the Philippines, Silver Spring, Md., Germany, Bermuda, Belgium, the Netherlands, England, Jacksonville and Ocean Grove, N.J. She was a teacher with the Department of Defense Dependent Schools, the Jacksonville Public Schools, and most recently at St. Ladislaus School in New Brunswick, N.J. Josephine attended Hamilton Township Public Schools and graduated from Hamilton High West in 1960. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland having graduated summa cum laude and received her Masters Degree in Elementary Education from the Watson School of Education at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington.
She was a communicant at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Asbury Park, N.J.
She was predeceased by her parents, Russell and Eva Vizzini.
She is survived by her husband, Paul; her daughter, Catherine; her son, Paul and daughter-in-law, Summer; her son, Richard and daughter-in-law, Jennifer, and her granddaughter, Anna. She is also survived by her sister, Marietta Fahy and brother-in-law, William Fahy; her sister, Kathleen Marisca; and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathleen and William Scarborough; along with many cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
Josephine was the most kind, gentle, and loving person to all who knew her. She was a gifted educator and students blossomed and flourished in her classroom. She leaves behind family, friends, and colleagues who give thanks for her having been such a positive, loving influence in their lives.
Visitation will be Monday, Aug. 1, 2011, from 4 to 8 p.m. at O'Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall, N.J.
A funeral mass will be offered Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Asbury Park, NJ. Committal will be private.
