Elwood Hopseker


WILMINGTON - Elwood H. Hopseker, 91, of Wilmington, died March 29, 2013, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center.

No service will be held per request.

Hopseker was a retired gunnery sergeant with the Marines. He was an active member of the VFW, The American Legion, The Retired Enlisted Association and the Sudan Shriners.

Hopseker is preceded in death by his wife, Margaret "Dee" Hopseker.

Survivors include son, Craig Hopseker of Muncie, Ind.; daughter, Sandra Phillips of Jacksonville; brothers, Willard Hopseker of Ephrata, Pa., Warren Hopseker of Chaumont, N.Y., and Richard Hopseker of Leesburg, Fla.; sisters, Lois Davis of Brownville, N.Y., Dorothy Snyder of Bishop, Calif., Joyce Ride of Orlando, Fla., Eudora Kanaley of Friendship, N.Y.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be left at Shriners Hospital for Children, 403 East Front St., New Bern or at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn.
