Funeral will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the St. Mark A.M.E. Zion Church with the Rev. Irving Hickman officiating. Interment follows in the Monk Family Cemetery.
He was formerly employed with PCS Phosphate.
Survivors include his stepmother, Ruby Russell Monk of Bayboro; daughters, Bayyinah Collins of Greenville, Katara Moore of Aurora and Roseda Glover of Laurel Hill, Fla.; brother, Prince Monk III of Brooklyn, N.Y.; sisters, Betty Quick of Fayetteville and Noreen Mathews of Cameron; stepbrothers, Gary Russell and Ronald Russell, both of Bayboro; and four grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 2 to 6 p.m. at Rivers-Morgan Funeral Home, New Bern, and other times at the home of Larry and Kay Monk, 16025 Highway 55, Stonewall.
