Helen Marie Roland

Mrs. Helen Marie Jones Roland of Warrensville passed away Sunday night, Sept. 29, 2013, at her home. She was 84.

Mrs. Roland was born in Ashe County on Saturday, April 27, 1929, to the late Rex P. and Annie Mary Dixon Jones.

She retired from Warrensville Post Office, where she worked as a Postal Clerk. She was a loving and a caring person, that took care of all who was around her. She believed in sharing her love and in hard work. Helen was a member of Clifton United Methodist Church, where she served as treasurer and was a member of UMW. She was an active worker of the American Heart Association, the Ashe County Chapter. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed by all.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Edwin Roland on Feb. 19, 2013; two brothers, Paul Jones and Perry Jones.

Mrs. Roland is survived by a son, Randy Roland and wife, Angie, of Warrensville; a daughter, Cindy Davis and husband, Ralph, of Warrensville; a brother, Leonard Preston Jones, of Richmond, Va.; four grandchildren, Scott Davis, Shelley Layden, Kymberlee Roland and Morgan Roland; five great-grandchildren; five great, great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Margaret Wannemacher and Rev. Larry Shepherd officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, Oct. 3, 2013, at Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2013, two hours prior the funeral service.
