Mrs. Martha Burnett Badger of Jefferson died on Friday, August 1, 2014 at Ashe Memorial Hospital. She was 79.
Mrs. Badger was born on August 7, 1934 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Charles Vance and Johanna DeHollander Burnett. She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Johanna Bottoms; sister, Evelyn Pine and brother, Bill Burnett.
Martha was well known for her cooking, canning and gardening skills. She always enjoyed listening to music, no matter where a group may be playing. Martha always had a helping spirit, whether through helping friends and neighbors or her work with the Ashe Shrine Club.
Mrs. Badger is survived by her husband, Bill Badger of Jefferson; two sons, John Badger, Jr. of West Jefferson and Jeff Badger of Jefferson; two daughters, Jackie Badger Little of West Jefferson and Mary Badger Hutchins of Gaffney, South Carolina; one brother, Charles Burnett, Jr. of Seattle, Washington; also surviving are seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the Badger Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. John Elledge. Burial followed in Jefferson Cemetery. The family received friends on Sunday, August 3, 2014 at Badger Funeral Home.
