Ralph Mulvaney Obituary

MATTOON - Ralph Raymond Mulvaney, 87, of Mattoon, passed away at 10:55 a.m. on Tuesday, August 10, 2010 at the Douglas Rehabilitation and Care Center in Mattoon. Funeral services honoring his life will begin on Saturday, August 14, 10:00 a.m. at the Schilling Funeral Home, 1301 Charleston Ave. with Reverend Don Pankey officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Bement Cemetery near Monticello. Visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Ralph was born on July 3, 1923 in Mattoon the son of Alfred and Leona (Tipsword) Mulvaney. He married Marian Cantrell on August 14, 1948. Survivors include his wife, Marian of Mattoon; his daughters, Barb Daily of Gays, Marilyn Mulvaney of Mattoon, Karen Combs and husband Larry of Birmingham, Alabama; his son, Randy Mulvaney and wife Bea of Katy, Texas; his grandchildren, Stephanie Pankey and husband Eric of Charleston, Jennifer Whisler and husband Rich of Lucas, Ohio, Alicia Pankey and husband Steve of Mattoon, Jeff Schnitzer of Houston, Texas, Kim Carpenter of Houston, Texas, Rachel Lueck and husband Nick of Mattoon, Hillary Edmondson and husband Court of League City, Texas; his brothers, Ivan Mulvaney and wife Susan of Arthur, Laverne Mulvaney and wife Virginia of Windsor; his sisters, Velma Cash of Oakland and Judy Jones of Oakland and seventeen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers, three sisters and one great-grandchild. Ralph was an electrician for thirty years. He was member of the American Legion and IBEW 146 as well as an avid NASCAR and Tony Stewart fan. He loved to fish and hunt in his younger years and also enjoyed mushroom hunting. He was known for telling stories. He loved to spend time with his grandkids and great-grandkids. Memorial gifts in his honor may be made out to the Alzheimer's Association.
