George A. Enrietta

Enrietta, George A. Age 95, of Diamond, passed away July 14, 2013. Born April 3, 1918 in Danville, George was a son of the late Bernard and Elvera Ganz-Enrietta. He was raised in Coal City and graduated from Coal City HS (1936). George honorably served in the U.S. Army during WWII throughout the European Theatre of Operations. On July 16, 1960, he married Mary Berta in New Hope Presbyterian Church in Coal City and together they made their home in Diamond. George worked at Berta Lumber Company, and retired as the company manager after 52 years. He also farmed many years in the area. George was an active member and deacon of New Hope Presbyterian Church; was a founding member of the Coal City Area Club, and belonged to the Coal City Civic Club and the Morris Camera Club. George remained very active into recent years and had a love of gardening, which especially included working in his yard. He enjoyed Chicago sports, photography, and many trips to Door County, Wisconsin. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Mary; nephews, John (Claudyne) Hill of Lancaster, Ohio, David (Carol) Hill of Charlottesville, Virginia, Bob (Chris) Fulton of Galesburg and Tom Fulton of Coal City; several great and great-great-nieces and nephews, as well as cousins. George was preceded by his parents; two sisters, Marie (Leroy) Hill and Vera Margaret Enrietta. Visitation will be held at New Hope Presbyterian Church, 80 North Garfield Street in Coal City, TODAY, Tuesday July 16th from 4:00-7:00PM. Funeral services will follow Wednesday in the church at 10:00AM. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery. Preferred memorials may be made to: New Hope Presbyterian Church.
