George L. Hudgens

Hudgens, George L. "Lem" Age 78, of Joliet, passed away on Friday, December 28, 2012 at Provena St. Joseph Medical Center. Born in Cheatham Co., TN, moved to the area after serving Honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. Retired from Carpenters Union Local #174 after 30 years of service. He was an avid NASCAR fan, but most importantly he loved his family, especially his grandbabies. Preceded in death by his wife, Delores (Popik); his parents, George W. and Mary (Louallen); sisters and brothers, Helen Love, Evelyn Evans, George W. Jr., Ervin, Mary Rebecca Powers, Albert and James. Survived by his children, Sharon (James) Addis, Sandra (David) Valentino, John Londrie, Darrell (Kim) Hudgens and Robert (Lisa Bennett, fiancée) Hudgens; grandchildren; a brother, Nelson (Ann, fiancée); sisters, Sible (William, deceased) Valentine and Stella (William, deceased) Drabek; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. George's family wishes everyone would consider organ and tissue donation. Funeral services will be held Monday, 10:30 am in the O'NEIL FUNERAL HOME CHAPEL, 1105 E. 9TH ST., (159TH ST.), LOCKPORT with Deacon Rob Wiereman officiating. Interment Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville. Visitation TODAY Sunday 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
