Kenneth L. Kobus Sr.

Kenneth L. Kobus, Sr. Kenneth L. Kobus Sr., age 88, late of Lockport, Sunday, January 12, 2014, at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox. Born in Joliet, lifelong area resident. Retired in 1985 from Union Oil after 36 years of service; also employed by Prairie Bluff Golf Course. A United States WWII Army Air Force Veteran, Ken received many decorations and citations during his 23 missions; the American Theater Ribbon, EAME Ribbon with three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, Air Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters and WW II Victory Medal. He was a life member of both Lockport VFW Post #1557 and Lockport Moose Lodge #5788 and member of Senior Citizens Association of Joliet. Ken delivered food for Meals on Wheels for 8 years. Preceded in death by his wife, Mary C. (Sartori); a granddaughter, Amy Cagwin; daughter-in-law, Mary Kobus; and a sister, Alvina. Survived by his two devoted children, Kenneth and Nancy (Greg) Cagwin; cherished grandchildren, Chris Kobus, Andrew "Drew" (Jenni) Kobus and Brett (Kim) Cagwin; three great-grandchildren, Braden and Marley Kobus and Meghan Cagwin; and a dear friend, Jean Barrows; numerous nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, memorials to Morning Star Mission would be appreciated. Funeral services will be held Thursday, 10:00 am in the O 'Neil Funeral Home Chapel, 1105 E. 9 th St. (159 th St.), Lockport, with Fr. Mark Fracaro officiating. Interment Calvary Cemetery, Lockport. Visitation Wednesday, 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the funeral home.
