Tonelli, Marie Pansy Age 73. Died August 11, 2013 in Fresno, California. Born April 2, 1940 in Joliet. Preceded in death by her parents, Derby and Margaret (nee Bick) Tonelli; 1 sister, Diane Peters. Survived by 1 brother, Karo (Yolanda Barello) Tonelli; 4 sisters, Rosemary Tonelli, Celia Schwab, Nola (Sal) Lara and Joan (the late Henry) Garavaglia; her godchild, Margaret (Mark) Maxwell and numerous nieces and nephews. Marie was a graduate of St. Francis Academy (Joliet Catholic High School). She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in the Teaching of the Biological Sciences and General Science, 1962 and her Master of Science Degree, 1965, both from the University of Illinois. Marie was the first Lay Teacher at St. Francis Academy, taught at Arlington Heights High School for 5 years. She moved to California and taught at Savannah High School in California for 32 years in the same classroom, she was a Cheerleader Advisor. Her last 5 years was a Science Curriculum Specialist, and Department Chair of the Science/Compliance Office. Received the "Teacher of the Year Award" all in the Anaheim Union School District, also received the "Golden Apple Award" from the State of California. A memorial Mass will be held Saturday, September 7th at Divine Savior Catholic Church, 67th at Main Streets 10 AM. Luncheon will follow at Supperosa's Restaurant Lisle, IL.
