Mary Kemp Born: Nov. 6, 1954; In Joliet Died: Feb. 15, 2014; In Plainfield Mary Kemp (nee Schaller) passed away peacefully at her home in Plainfield, with her family by her side, Saturday, February 15, 2014. Age 59. Born November 6, 1954, in Joliet, to Ronald and Lois (nee Muir) Schaller. She grew up in Plainfield and a graduate of Plainfield High School Class of 1972. After high school she worked various jobs as a secretary until her employment at St. Joseph 's Hospital. After 18 years of service in various capacities at the hospital, Mary decided to take a job that would allow her to follow her passion for caring for animals and accepted a full time position at the Animal Care Center in Plainfield. She later became the Administrator for Kremer Veterinary Services. Mary enjoyed most anything to do with animals, especially dogs and horses. Over the years she rescued two Dachshunds, Bitzi and Habi, as well as several Australian Shepherds, and at one point raising three. Her other pet passion, which began as a teen, was horses. Most notably was her relationship with her newest beloved horse Toby. Survived by her son, Stephen of Tolono, IL; her parents, Ron and Lois Schaller of Plainfield; her siblings, Greg (Rosemary) Schaller of Wheaton, Kevin (Kevin Fulara) Schaller of Wauconda, Suzanne Schaller of Plainfield, Jeannine (Richard) Marco of Plainfield, and Paul (Laura) Schaller of Tampa, FL; and her six nephews, Daniel, Zachary, David, Nicholas, Alex and Dominic. Also survived by several aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by her grandparents and several aunts and uncles; as well as her horse, Buck; and Dachshund, Bitzi. Memorial graveside services will be held at a later date with the inurnment at Woodlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Joliet Area Community Hospice, Sarcoma Society, American Cancer Society or Help Save Pets in Plainfield will be appreciated.
