Ziesemer, Leona Brown (nee Echternach) A Lockport, Illinois resident for over 48 years, crossed over to the Unknown Kingdom in the Clouds on Saturday, December 1, 2012 at Presence St. Joseph Medical Center in Joliet, IL. She was born November 2, 1923, to Raymond H. and Olga R. (Abernathy) Echternach of Genoa, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Arley Brown (1958); second husband, William Ziesemer (2009); two sisters, Evelyn Mae (1921) and Gloria Ann (1944); her father (1973), and her mother (1980). She is survived by her sister, Lila R. Keegan, of Genoa, Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Ziesemer received a bachelor's degree (1944) and master's degree (1954) from the University of Illinois. She taught Smith-Hughes Home Economics for seven years at the Askum-Clifton Community High School (1944-1951), (now Central Community High School), Clifton, Illinois. She taught nineteen years in the Joliet Township High School System (1951-1970). She last worked as a legal secretary for Herschbach Law Firm, Joliet, Illinois. She was a member and past president of Rho Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society, International since 1955. She was a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association and University of Illinois Alumni Association and a member of Shepherd of the Hill Lutheran Church in Lockport, Illinois. Family will receive friends at Goodale Memorial Chapel, 912 S. Hamilton Street, Lockport, IL 60441, Wednesday, December 5th, 2012 from 9:00 AM until time of funeral service at 11:00 AM, officiated by Rev. Dr. Robert T. Dealey. Interment Lockport City Cemetery, Lockport. IL. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Perpetual Care Fund for the Lockport City Cemetery would be appreciated.
