He loved fishing and golfing in his younger years, and later enjoyed watching his favorite sports teams, the Chicago Cubs and Chicago Bears. There is a brick at Wrigley Field with his name, stating that he was a "Cubs fan since 1927". He loved to watch and talk about baseball. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony Daniel Fier and Anna T. (Kezerle) Fier; one brother, Raymond, who died in infancy; and his wife of 47 years, Lorraine (Nemanich) Fier. He is survived by his daughter and son-in law, Roberta and James Lasky; his close companion, Carol Johnson of Chicago Heights; brother-in-law, Anton "Bud" Nemanich and sister-in-law, Harriet (Deisel) Nemanich; nieces, Patricia Keenan, Gail (Keenan) Mitok, Jill (Keenan) Benson, Aleta (Nemanich) Loutsch, JoAnn (Nemanich) Muladore; and nephews, Mark Keenan, James Keenan, and Keith Nemanich. He will be particularly missed by Carol Johnson's loving children, Caryn Johnson and Ron Johnson.
