Edward Szklanecki, age 91, of Plainfield, formerly of LaSalle, IL, at rest Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at The Symphony of Joliet Nursing Home surrounded by his family. Born November 1, 1922 in Lodz, Poland to Edward W. and Ludwika (nee Krussynka) Szklanecki.
A member of Automobile Mechanics Local #701 with 30 years of service and Community Christian Church.
Survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Carolyn (nee Okeson); children, Louie (Peggy), Christine (Ramon) Vega, Danny (Jennifer) Seven, Carol (David) O'Dell and Donna Schroeder; 25 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother; Henry (Genia); one sister, Helen (the late John) Riszko; and many nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Ann Feret; and three brothers, Theodore, Zygmund and Stanley.
All friends and family are invited to gather on Friday, June 20, 2014 at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Rds, Joliet from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:30 a.m. As it was his wish, Cremation Rites have been accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name to Community Christian Church, 1635 Emerson Lane, Naperville, IL 60540 or Joliet Area Community Hospice would be appreciated.
