Schaffer, Violet - Fort Morgan  
Violet Irene (Amen) Harris Schaffer, 94 of Fort Morgan passed away Tuesday June 30th, 2015 at North Colorado Medical Center as a result of an auto accident. Violet was born on January 14, 1921 to Andrew and Anna Amen in Sterling, CO and she spent her youth in Crook ,CO on the family farm with her 12 brothers and sisters. Violet attended Chelsea Schools in Logan, CO which was originally called Amen, CO. Violet married Phillip Harris in February of 1938 and they moved toFort Morgan in 1950 where they enjoyed 52 wonderful years together. From this union they had four children Phyllis, Irene, Leonard and Patricia. Phillip passed away in 1990 and later she married Car lSchaffer and they enjoyed many years together. Everyone who met grandma Violet has a story to share about her. The unconditional love she freely gave. The stubborn streak that ran strong in her and anybody whoever spent any amount of time with her could recognize it right away. Her sense of humor that would make people laugh, and fall in love with her even more. We all have wonderful memories of her that we will treasure for the rest of our lives. The influence she had over everyone of us, and how much she touched our hearts. Her smile would light up a room. She rescued baby dolls from garage sales and gave them a new home filled with grandbabies. She filled our stomachs with peach pies, g rebel, chocolate sheetcake, and chicken noodle soup with butter balls. Her colorful blankets and quilts she crafted out of scraps of fabric decorate and warm our beds at night. She adored her grandchildren, and they adored her right back. Our lives are emptier now without her, but she will never be forgotten, and her legacy will continue on for generations. Her biggest joy in life was everyone else's happiness. Violet is survived by her children: Phyllis Troudt, Phyllis's daughter, Penny Hopper-Boehm (Mike), Penny's child, Chrissy Roberts (Jason) and great grandchildren, Emma and Molly Roberts; Phyllis's son, Larry Troudt (Dianna) and children Kevin and Kirk Troudt; Violets' daughter the late Irene Jones; her children, daughter Cindy Johnson (Eric) and children, Michael and Zachary Elrick; Tommy Christensen (Mary Ann) children Amy Castle (Chris), Shai and Wes Christensen; Lorna Kishimato,decd (Dave) and her children Grace and Jessica Kishimato and the late Cody Kishimato ; Violet's son, Leonard Harris (Pat) and his daughter, Tammy Thorp (Arthur); Violet's daughter, Patricia Burdett, and her family, Marcy Bosworth (Peter) her children Anna Burrell (Bakhari) and Katherine Bosworth; Mark Meyer (Sue), and children Kara Garcia (Anthony) her children Maylee Vi and Kassidy Garcia, Andrew, Maddy and Brandon Meyer; Michael Meyer (Becky) and children Brandon, Brittany and Kassidy Bona and Dylan Meyer; Violet's sisters and brothers, Esther Scriven, decd. (Leland), Victor Amen decd, Helen Dies (Harry), Alma Dies decd, (Jake), Alvin Amen decd, (Opal), Lucelle Amen, Henry Amen (Lavona), Florance Fritzler, decd (Victor), Marlene Kubal (Joe), Leland Amen decd (Sherrie), Gerald Amen (Elaine), and Donald Amen (Jenice). In total she is survived by 3 children, 6 siblings, 8 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband's Phillip and Carl, daughter Irene, granddaughter Lorna, great grandson Cody and 5 of her siblings. There will be a visitation on Sunday, July 5, 2015 from 2 until 4 pm at the Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan. Funeral Services will be Monday, July 6, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Christ Congregational Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens. Memorial Gifts may be made to the Christ Congregational Church in Fort Morgan.

Crouch, Kenneth - Sterling  
Kenneth Herbert Crouch, 78, of Sterling passed away Tuesday, June 30, 2015 in Sterling. Visitation will be from 1 pm to 4 pm Sunday, July 5 at Tennant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Monday, July 6 at Tennant Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Ken was born on May 6, 1937 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Raymond and Irene (Myers) Crouch. He attended school in Pittsburgh. He worked for Eastman Brothers for 25 years and as well as a driver for the railroad for 15 years. He met his future wife at the J&L Cafe and married Pauline Fetzer on September 29, 1968. They were married in Sterling at the Methodist Church and were married for 45 years. He was recognized and given a certificate for Safety Driving Railroad Workers. He was a Webelos Leader for several years and helped with the Cub Scouts. He enjoyed fishing in his earlier days. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed holding every grandchild. His smile, and his gift of making friends wherever he went, will be missed. He is survived by his wife Pauline Crouch of Sterling; son Ken Crouch Jr. and wife Tamara of Sterling; daughter Judy Gibbs and husband Donald of Sterling; brother Raymond Crouch of Arizona; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Raymond and Irene. Memorials may be made to the Kenneth Crouch Sr. Memorial Fund in care of Tennant Funeral Home, PO Box 1547, Sterling, CO 80751.

Hecker, Dean - Sidney  
Dean J. Hecker, 95, of Sidney, Neb., passed away Thursday, June 25, 2015, at the Sidney Regional Medical Center. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 30, in the St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Father Jim Heithoff officiating. Graveside services with Military Honors will follow in the GreenwoodCemetery. There will be no Wake or Rosary Services. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on Monday from 1-7 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made in Dean's name to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Peetz Fire Department or the Grand Prairie Cemetery. Dean Joseph Hecker was born Aug. 3, 1919, to William and Minnie (Fischer) Hecker in Proctor, and resided in Peetz. He resided in Colorado and Sidney all his life, where he made his living by farming. Dean enjoyed music, building steam engines, and remodeling antique cars. Dean was always there with a helping hand. Dean served in World War II, in the 80th Infantry Division while being stationed in France. He served on the Peetz Elevator Board for 14 years and was also a member of the Peetz American Legion Post No. 134. Dean was married to Vera McGrane who with his parents were killed in a train accident in 1941. Dean was then married to Dolores Kuehler Nov. 24, 1954, who passed away in 1988. Dean was also preceded in death by his two brothers Lloyd and Donald. Dean is survived by numerous extended family and friends.

Mason, Florence - Sterling  
Florence Maxine Mason, "Mimi," 90, of Sterling entered into eternal life on Sunday, June 28, 2015. Public viewing will be Wednesday, July 1 from 1:00 P.M. 6:00 P.M. at Tennant Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday, July 2 at 10:30 at the Sterling Foursquare Church. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Florence was born on April 18, 1925 in Volga, Iowa to Fred and Nora (Radloff) Christeleit. She attended Atwood Grade School and then Fairview Grade School. She married Lester Mason on November 21, 1942 in Sidney, Nebraska. Beginning in 1972, she practiced reflexology and was know by many as "The Foot Lady." Florence was known to have magic in her hands. Folks came from as far away as Nebraska and Wyoming to have their feet worked on. With her husband, she also owned Sterling Cab Company for over 30 years. Florence was a member of the Sterling Foursquare Church since its humble beginning when it met in a tent. She enjoyed crocheting, embroidering, sewing and just about all other crafts. In these areas she was a self-taught expert never needing to rely on others' patterns. In her younger years she was quite the radio celebrity being known for her amazing talent with yodeling. She also had a very loving and compassionate heart towards animals. Florence is survived by her children: Bill Mason, (Joyce Mason), Linda Marie McDonald, (Hank McDonald): 4 grandchildren: Michael Mason, (Angela Mason) Shawna Huffsmith, Trudi Wells and John Mason: 5 great-grandchildren: Blake Huffsmith, Mason "Masi" Wells, Mark Kenner, Michael Kenner and Molly Kenner. She was preceded in death by her son David Mason, husband Lester Mason, parents Fred and Nora, great-grandson Phoenix Wells, brother Harold Christeleit and step-father Gordon Pierce.

McBride, Bette - Haxtun  
Bette Elaine (Rogers) McBride, 85, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2015 at the Haxtun Hospital. Bette was born on a farm near Proctor, July 17, 1929 to Emma Volstedt Rogers and Ed Rogers. She grew up on farms in that area. She rode horse back to White Dove Country School and graduated from Crook High School in 1947. She met John Lyle McBride on a blind date in Sterling, and they married in 1949. She worked alongside her husband John on their farm near Iliff for over 50 years, where she milked cows, raised stock cattle and chickens and grew a large garden. Bette loved animals and always had dogs, cats and horses. She was an avid reader and enjoyed oil painting, craftwork, sewing, genealogy, cross word puzzles and writing poetry. Bette attended birthday club, bible study and card club on a regular basis for many years. Bette and John sold their farm near Iliff in 2005 after John suffered a stroke. Bette moved into the Haxtun Hospital District Extended Care Unit in May of 2011. Although she suffered from dementia she loved the daily activities and was a joy to the staff and the other residents. Bette has two sons, Lyle and wife Debby of Haxtun, and Walter and wife Twila of Canyon City. She has five grandchildren, Tracy McBride (Butch) Lapp of Ault, Kelley McBride (Mark) Hartman of Arvada, Tami (Lee) Walter of Canyon City, Greg (Sue) McBride of Canyon City, and Chris (Karen ) McBride of Frenchville, Pa.; 16 great-grand- children; 24 great-great- grandchildren and one great-great-great-grandchild; nieces, Jackie (Curt) Brown, Kimball, Neb., Kay Marie (Bill) Meyers, Sterling; nephew, Gary (Marlene) Gentry, Peetz; numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Bette was preceded in death by parents, Emma Volstedt Rogers and Ed Rogers; her husband, John; brothers, Fritz (Frederick) and Robert Pronger and Orville Rogers; sisters, Opal Rogers Sharp and Ruth (Ed) Brachenbauh. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 1, from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Gerk Funeral Home in Haxtun. A Celebration of Life will be held Thursday, July 2, at 10:30 a.m. at the Haxtun United Methodist Church with Pastor Jeri Soens officiating. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery, Sterling, at 1:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Haxtun Hospital District Extended Care Unit "Activity Fund."

Orr, Clair - Greeley  
A much-loved husband, father, grandfather, son, brother and friend, Clair B. Orr, 61, of Kersey, CO passed on to his eternal life with Christ on June 26, 2015 with his family at his side. He was born on August 12, 1953 in Kremmling, CO to Jack and Alta Orr. He married Deborah Kautz of Crook,CO in 1974 He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Deborah J. Kautz; daughters Tonya (Kyle) Pérez of Nara Visa, NM; Kaycee (Jason) Hoffman of Thedford, NE; Katie (Coy) Egbert of Hudson, CO.; seven grandchildren including Peyton & Libby Pérez; Haxton, Kennedy, and Hayden Hoffman; Kingston & Crew Egbert; parents Jack and Alta Orr of Granby; sister Val Orr of Greeley; brothers Ed Orr of Greeley and Fred Orr of Denver. Also survived by his mother inlaw Evelyn Kautz of Sterling. He was preceded in death by his maternal and parternal grandparents and the late Harold Kautz. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 7755 Greenstone Trail, Fort Collins, CO. Memorials may be made to the Clair B. Orr Memorial, P.O. Sisneros, Martin - Brush  
Martin D. Sisneros, 82, passed away Wednesday, June 24, 2015, at his home. He was born March 2, 1933, in Stratton, NE to Joseph & Julia Sisneros. The Sisneros family moved to Sterling when Martin was young. Martin married Esther Baltazar on June8, 1953 in Fort Morgan. He joined the US Army in 1953. Following his honorable discharge in 1955, The Sisneros family lived in the Denver area where Martin worked as a crane operator. In 2005 they moved to the Brush community. Martin enjoyed studying American History, especially western American history. He loved animals, and helping on farms when he could. He enjoyed playing slot machines. His passion was spending time with his family. Martin was a member of the American Legion Post 19 in Fort Morgan and St. Helena Catholic Church. Surviving family includes his wife of 63 years, Esther of Brush; 4 children, Richard and Steven both of Aurora, CO, Rodney and Diana both of Denver; 3 sisters, Linda Ochoa and Eleanor Delgado both of Sterling, CO and Molly Martinez of Colorado Springs, CO; 15 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 son, Martin Jr, 1 daughter Donna Marquez Shelady; 2 brothers, Joseph and Nick; and his parents. A memorial mass will be at St. Helena Catholic Church in Fort Morgan on Tuesday, June 30, at 10:30 AM. Inurnment with military honors will follow at Serenity Falls Columbarium. A rosary will be recited on Monday at 7:00 PM at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush. Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Martin Sisneros Memorial Fund c/o the Mortuary.
