Downen, Sheryl - Sterling  
Sheryl Elizabeth (Moore) Downen, 55, of Stoneham passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015 in Ft.Morgan. A Celebration of Life service will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 2 at Tennant Funeral Home. Sheryl was born on June 26, 1960 in El Dorado, Kansas to Kenneth Dean and Mabel (Lockhart) Moore. She went to Haverhill Elementary and graduated from Bluestem High School in Leon, Kansas. She was a homemaker while her boys were in school until 1995. She then worked at Arby's and Taco Bell, and was an office assistant for Don Smith. She found her working family at Sykes in 2006 until the present. She was married to David Downen on June 10, 1979. They were married for 33 years. She enjoyed reading, cooking, and her family and family gatherings. Sheryl loved to cook for anybody and everybody. She made a special meal for the Veterans she knew every Veteran's Day. She is survived by her son Ricky and wife Jodi of Willard, CO; granddaughters Jasmine and Madison; brothers Joe Moore and wife Peggy of Wichita, KS, Billy Moore of El Dorado, KS, Darryl Moore and wife Gina of El Dorado; sister Janice Humes and husband Jerry of Manhattan, KS; mother-in-law Luella Walker of El Dorado; sister-in-law Robin Moore of Lee Summit, MO; brothers-in-law Rick and Eileen Downen and Terry Walker of El Dorado; several nieces and nephews; special friends the Warnick Family, John Iven, The Riders, and Shannon Allen. She was preceded in death by her husband David; son Thomas; parents Kenneth and Mabel; brother Kerry Dean Moore. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sheryl Downen Memorial Fund in care of Tennant Funeral Home, PO Box 1547, Sterling, CO 80751.

Hernandez, Gail - Sterling  
Gail Luellan Hernandez, 62, of Sterling passed away Sunday, August 30, 2015 in Greeley. Visitation will be from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm Thursday, Sept. 3 at Tennant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am Friday, Sept. 4 at Tennant Funeral Home with a luncheon immediately following. Gail was born on December 18, 1952 in Sterling to Owen and LaDonna (Gorham) Budd. She worked hard at various places throughout her life and recently retired. She also worked hard and received her GED in 2000. She was married to Randall Hernandez Sr. She loved her home, gardening, plants, marshmallow (her dog) and her neighbors. She loved her family very much and was a good wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She fought this battle with much prayer and the strength of her Lord Jesus Christ and now she is with Him forever, never to suffer again. She is greatly and forever will be missed. She is survived by her husband Randall Hernandez Sr. of Sterling; sons Ron Minniear and wife Andrea of Haigler, NE and Coleman Minniear and wife Marcy of Sterling; daughter Bobbie and husband Cory Reeve of Sterling; step-children Shantel Hernandez of Denver, Randy Hernandez Jr. and wife Amber of Denver; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sisters Kalleen Budd of Sterling and Claudia Budd of Las Animas; brother Wade Budd of Tampa, Florida; brother-in-law Jim Hernandez and wife Penny of Sterling; sister-in-law Veronica of Sterling; numerous nieces and nephews. Martinez, Gabriel - Sterling  
Gabriel "Gabe" Martinez, 67, of Sterling passed away Saturday, August 22, 2015 in Sterling. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Wednesday, Aug. 26 at Tennant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Thursday, Aug. 27 at Tennant Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery with Military Honors. Gabe was born on February 23, 1948 in Sequin, Texas to Refugio Martinez and Eugenia Paz Martinez. He was a Sterling High School graduate and attended NJC. He worked for Excel and Cargill for 31 years, medically retiring in 2009. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army from January 1968 to November 1969. He received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and a Good Conduct Medal. On June 5, 1971, he married Librada Rios Viera in Sterling. He was a member of the American Legion. He enjoyed barbequing, cooking, fishing, prairie dog shooting, celebrating his freedom, talking politics, reading his bible, and walking his dog. He especially enjoyed family time and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He loved his family, his country, and his freedom. He touched many lives and he will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife Librada Viera Martinez; son Juan Gabriel Martinez and wife Courtney; grandson Gabriel Nephtali Martinez and granddaughter Izabella May Martinez; daughter Alison Marie Mungia and husband Jerry; grandsons Angel Gabriel Mungia and Ricky Ayden Mungia, granddaughter Ariana Faith Mungia; great-granddaughter Lillie Hope Campbell; brothers Robert and wife Linda and Martin and wife Leslie; sisters Rosita Jimenez and Dolores Mendoza; brother-in-law Nephtali Viera and wife Linda; sisters-in-law Minerva Garza and husband Mike and Yolanda Guerra; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Refugio and Eugenia, brother Refugio Ramiro "Coconut" Martinez, and infant brother Andres Martinez.
