Arriola, Pedro - Fort Morgan  
Pedro "Pete" Arriola, 78, of Fort Morgan, died Thursday, May 14, at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. He was born to Alvin and Carline Arriola in Nebraska. Pedro married Esperanza (Hope) Ramirez in 1956 in Plainview, Texas. TTo that union they had three children: Ray, Alvin and Terri. They divorced in 1980. He later married Julie Agguire in 1996 in Brighton. He was a member of St. Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. Pedro worked for Gerald Dick Feedlot Farms and then was offered a job at Great Western Sugar Factory in Sterling, until they closed, and was transferred to GW Sugar Factory in Fort Morgan, where he was a longtime resident. He retired in 2006 from GW Sugar Factory, working for 53 years. He enjoyed fishing and camping. In his early years he played the drums for the Rhythm Ranch Boys fro many years and other bands when needing a drummer. He is survivied by his wife, Julie of Fort Morgan; children, Theresa "Terri" Meraz, A. Alvin Arriola and P. Ray Arriola of Sterling; step-children, Ricky Alva of Log Lane Village, Bob Alva of Sterling and Frank Alva of Littleton; and his sister, Kosefina Rios of Uvalda, Texas; grandhiclren, Carlos Meraz Jr., Emilio Meraz, Phillip Arriola, Christopher Arriola, Racheal Arriola, Lucas Sterns, Danielle Arriola, Anthony Arriola, Paul Alva, Thomas Alva, Daniel Alva, Mark Alva, Joel Alva, A.J. Alva, Shan Alva, Tasha Arriola Alexander and Victoria Arriola; and 21 great-great-granchildren. He was Preceded in death by his parents; brother,; and son, John. Visitation was held Monday, May 18, at Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan, followed by the Rosary Vigil. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 19, at St. Helena's Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. His remains will be cremated after the mass. A memorial service will be held in Sterling at the VFW, 806 Phelps, on May 23 at 3 p.m. Memorials may be mailed to Terri Meraz, 518 Clark St., Sterling, CO 80751.
