Edwin Eugene "Gene"?Raichart, 57, of Merino, passed away Feb. 13, 2014, at this home south of Willard. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, at Chaney-Reager, with Jim Price, Lorraine Lerwick and Martin Hnizdil speaking. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.
Gene was born Nov. 13, 1956, in Denver to Edwin David and Donna Marcia (Clark) Raichart. He was the oldest of six children.
He returned to Colorado in 1974, where he met his wife, Cheryl Schaefer. They were married Aug. 8, 1975, in Yuma. Together, they left Yuma in 1978 and moved to Denver, where Gene began working in the construction industry. As a journeyman carpenter for Br. 1396, he loved learning all phases of construction from the foundation of a custome home to the top of the skyscraper. In 1986, they returned to northeast Colorado, where he started moving and maintaining mobile homes until poor health kept him home.
Gene is survived by his wife of 38 years, Cheryl Raichart of Merino; parents, Dave and Donna Raichart of Ogden, Utah; in-laws, Virgil and Janet Schaefer of Yuma; brothers, Geoffery Raichart of Ogden, Utah, Orin Raichart of Vequita, N.M., Steve Raichart and wife Kelli of Yamhill, Ore.; sisters, Venise Mee and husband Cliff of Oakland, Ore., Esther Dolphion and husband Mike of Pelican Lake, Wis.; and many nieces and nephews.
