Gladys LaVerne White, 79, of Fleming, passed away Friday, Feb. 21, 2014, in Fort Collins. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27, at Tennant Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Feb. 28, at Emmanuel Baptist Church with Pastor Sean Cole officiating. Burial will follow in the Fleming Cemetery.
Gladys LaVerne Quirey was born Jan. 11, 1935, in Sterling, to John B. Quirey and Ethel B. Drescher. She attended school in Peetz and Padroni and earned a two-year degree from Colorado Secretary College.
On Jan. 4, 1964, Gladys married Edgar White and the two were married for 44 years. Gladys' prior marriage was to Robert Stone Sr. on June 3, 1953, and the two were married for seven years.
Gladys was a member of the Set Free Ministry and the Emmanuel Baptist Church. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, watching the Game Show Network, Bible study, and singing in the church choir. She was an avid Bronco fan and supporter of the Fleming Wildcats.
Gladys is survived by sister, Barbara Koester of Peetz; son, Robert Stone Jr. and wife Candy of Fleming; son, John Stone and wife Starr of Fleming; daughter, Pam Slattery and wife Ron of Tacoma, Wash.; son, William Stone of Golden; son, Dr. David White of Seattle, Wash.; daughter, Joy Bauder and husband Troy of Fort Collins; daughter, Donna White of Fort Collins; eighteen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; and special friend, Arlene Pemberton.
She was preceded in death by father, John B. Quirey; mother, Ethel B. (Drescher) Klee; sister, G. Jane Bellendir; husband, Edgar White; and daughter, Vickie Sue Fetzer.
