Harlen Dean Weitzel, 78, of Sterling, passed away Friday, Nov. 29, 2013 in Sterling. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor James Nash officiating. Interment will be at a later date at Mountain View Cemetery, Riverton, Wyo.
Harlen was born on Feb. 3, 1935, in Henry, Neb., to Alex and Amelia (Winaster) Weitzel. Harlen graduated high school. He worked for Dick Truck Lines, Mid West Coast Trucking, Mountain Empire Dairy Association, and farmed on the side.
He married Darlene Fresorger on Nov. 29, 1953, and was married until 1969. He later married Connie Marrow in October of 1971. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and loved doing activities at the Senior Citizens Center.
He loved watching sports, playing golf, playing cards and spending time with his family and friends, especially coffee time with his buddies.
He is survived by sister, Wilma Kisling and husband Scott; children, Cindy Pennington and husband Bob, Roxann Edwards and husband Jim, Darla Stevens and husband Jim, Denise Gerk and husband Steve; grandchildren, Ryan Pennington, Erin (Pennington)Weber , Bobbie (Edwards) Archuleta, Jamie (Edwards) West, Roy Edwards, Jason Weitzel, Chris Gerk, Tyler Gerk, Jeremy Gerk, Lynlee Gerk, Spencer Gerk, Kyle Gerk; eight great-grandchildren; and special friend, Sharon Fritzler.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Connie; parents, Alex and Amelia Weitzel; and brother, LaVern Weitzel.
