Lewellyn "Lew" Roosevelt Sindt, 80, of Peetz, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013 in Greeley. Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at Tennant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 15, at the United Methodist Church of Peetz. Interment will follow at Peetz Cemetery.
Lew was born on June 6, 1933, in Peetz to Theodore and Laura (Johnson) Sindt. He went to school in Peetz and at Colorado State University. He was in the U.S. Army and was a farmer and rancher. He was married to Andrea Breining for 15 years. He was a member of the VFW, Meshawa Riding Club, 4H Leader, PRCA, FFA, and a lifetime member of the United Methodist Church of Peetz. He enjoyed horse breeding and training, rodeo, hunting, old cars, and motorcycles.
He is survived by sons, Winston Sindt of Denver and Tad Sindt of San Diego; sister, Bette Franklin of Kimball, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Laura; sister, Mary Bernhardt.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Peetz.
