Alvin L. West, 80, of Greeley, formerly of Iliff, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Feb. 11, 2014 in Greeley. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Feb. 19 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 300 Ballpark Road, Sterling.
He was born July 26, 1933 in Calhan, to Leslie and Pearl (Sinison) West.
Al served in the United States Army and Navy and then enjoyed being a farmer and truck driver for many years. He loved anything John Deere and his collection of pigs. His favorite saying was "pumphandle."
He is survived by his wife, Waunetta of Greeley; sons, Rodney and wife Stacy of Aurora, Phillip of Alma, Mich., Steve and wife Melanie of Elizabeth; daughter, Cheryl Byrne and husband David of White Plains, Md.; sisters, Della, Loretta, and Rudy; brothers, Lyle, Marvin, Edwin, Kenneth, Leon, Darrell and Larry; step-daughters, Connie Acklam and husband Clarence of Thornton, Christy Rhea and husband Pete of Denver, Pam Chilcott and husband Ed of Greeley, Diana Norris and husband Keith of Box Elder, S.D.; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Leslie and Pearl; sister, Leona; stepson, Wayne; and his beloved pets, Peaches, Skeeterbug and Yeller.
He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
