Darrel Royce Bonham, 93, of Sterling, passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, in Sterling. Visitation will start at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Tennant Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, at Tennant Funeral Home with the Rev. Jared Sonnenberg officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. |
Darrel was born on Sept. 7, 1919, in Willard to Earl and Jennie (Linder) Bonham. He attended school in Willard through high school.
He was self-employed as a rancher in the Northwest Pawnee Pass area. He served as an Army Medic from Sept. 17, 1942, to Jan. 6, 1946, and was stationed in New Guinea and Japan.
He married Beatrice Hunker in Sterling in 1948. They were married for 55 years until her passing.
He was a lifetime member of the Sterling Elks Lodge 1336 and a Past President of the Northeast Cattlemen's Association.
He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Beatrice; parents, Earl and Jennie; sisters, Bernita Price and Dorothy Bonham; and brother, Wayne Bonham.
