David McClanahan Obituary
David F. McClanahan born Aug. 17, 1945, passed away on June 21, 2014. He was born and raised in Sterling. Shortly after high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and was a member of the Carrier Airborne Early Warning Squadron 112. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, he moved to the Fort Collins area and took a job working at the Water Treatment Plant for the city of Greeley. During his 25 years in the Fort Collins/Bellevue area, he and wife Beverly raised their two children, Christopher and Megan. David retired from the city of Greeley and went to work with the city of Fort Morgan, and the city of Longmont in the water treatment department. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed hunting, archery and spending time with his family. He was a great father and an amazing grandpa. Not a day went by that he didn't make an impact in someone's life. He is survived by Beverly and their children, Christopher and Megan, as well has his brother's Marc, Jim, and Mike, and his three wonderful granddaughters, Madison, Sadie and Hannah. He will be remembered for his stories of his life's adventures, his integrity and selflessness. There will be a celebration of his life from noon to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at the Heritage Center in Sterling.
