Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, at Peace Lutheran Church. Interment will be at Riverside Cemetery.

Dorothy was born in Sterling on Aug. 1, 1924, to Henry and Jenny Hein Steinmiller. She was a resident of Sterling until 2003 when she moved to Denver, Colorado to be close to her family.

Dorothy married Albert R. Dermer on June 25, 1944, and they resided on the Dermer Farm south of Sterling. Dorothy and Albert were married 55 years and had four children, Diane, Rodney, Mikey and Jami.

Dorothy was a member of Peace Lutheran, Mary Martha Circle, and Twain Club. She taught Sunday School and was a very active member at Peace Lutheran. She volunteered for Meals on Wheels as well as many other community organizations. Dorothy was so active in the church and community she earned the nickname "the road runner."

Dorothy enjoyed gardening, quilting, noodle making and was an avid golfer. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren and traveling the world with her husband and later with her two daughters, Diane and Jami. She loved visiting new countries and embraced learning about their cultures. Dorothy hiked Machu Pichu on her 80th birthday and stood at the Great Wall of China at 83. Dorothy was always ready for an adventure.

Dorothy also loved going to Broadway musicals and plays. She never missed attending her two grandson's, Derek and Tyler's sports activities or her granddaughter, Chloe's, dance performances.

Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Diane K. Dermer, Jami Dermer-Terlingen; and son-in-law, Richard Terlingen. Dorothy is also survived by her grandchildren, Chloe Terlingen, Derek Fritzler and wife Michelle; and her great-granddaughter, Emerson Fritzler; and brother, Raymond "Uncle Bud" Steinmiller, Marie Ann Rose, Marie Dehry and many special friends and family.

Dorothy was preceded in her transition by her husband, Albert Rudolf Dermer; sons, Michael Wayne Dermer and Rodney Albert Dermer; and grandson, Tyler Michael-Steven Trout.
