Dorothy Rundall Obituary
Dorothy J. Rundall, 83 of Sterling, passed away Sun, June 29, 2014 in Sterling. Visitation will be Wed., July 2 from 10am until 4pm at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Thurs., July 3, 2014 at First Baptist Church. Interment will be 2:00 p.m. at the Ovid Cemetery. Dorothy was born in a farmhouse northwest of Padroni, CO to Luther and Helen Kellogg Gross on May 9, 1931. The family moved to Stoneham, CO where she graduated from Stoneham High School in 1949. Dorothy worked as a leave replacement for the Stoneham Post Master for ten years and then was appointed Post Master in Dec. 1959, retiring June 31, 1995. She continued to live in Stoneham until Aug. 2008, when she moved to Sterling. Dorothy married Wilbur Lemmons on April 3, 1949. They were married for 24 years before he passed away. At the Little Brown Church in the Vale, Nashua, Iowa she married Keith Rundall on Oct. 13, 1991. She was active in the National Association of Postmaster in the U.S.A. where she held several offices and attended many state conventions and a number of national conventions. Two special conventions she attended were in Hawaii in 1963 and Puerto Rico in 1968. Dorothy also served as secretary for Stoneham Independent Telephone Co from Oct. 1959 until Oct. 2002. She became a member of the First Baptist Church in the fall of 1953 and continued to attend until her passing. Dorothy is survived by her husband Keith Rundall of Sterling; brother Leonard Gross and wife Doris of Emory, TX; sister Evelyn Zini and husband Ed of Climax, NY; sister-in-law Shirley Griess of Thompson Falls, MT; three step grandchildren and several step great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and a great number of loved friends including several very special ones She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Ernie Gross. Contributions may be made to the or the First Baptist Church in Sterling.
