Marvin Lee Gemaehlich, 65, passed away on Oct. 31, 2013, at the Davis Hospice Center in Cheyenne, Wyo. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at Our Savior Lutheran Church with Pastor Joshua Scheer officiating. Cremation has occurred at Cheyenne Memorial Gardens.
Marvin was born to Herman H. Gemaehlich and Helen Marie Diercks on Sept. 2, 1948, in Sterling, and grew up on the Gemaehlich family farm. After graduating in the class of 1966, Marvin served honorably in the U.S. Army from 1968-1970.
In 1984, he left Sterling for Cheyenne, where he would spend the rest of his life. Marvin worked for Mead Lumber Company, enjoyed gardening and mountain lake get-aways, and was an active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church, working as a church trustee for many years. He coached softball for teams his daughter, Carissa, played for.
He will be remembered for his passion for helping others, taking on any job, big or small, to make life a bit easier for someone else. One of his greatest joys in life was spending time with his family and, in particular, his two grandchildren.
He is survived by his daughter, Carissa Coursey; grandchildren, Hannah and Byron Coursey; brothers, Donald and wife Karen, LaVergn, Norman, and Ronald Gemaehlich and wife Tammi; sisters, LaVaughn Bresnahan and Linda Kay Koehler and husband Dale; sister-in-law, Carol Gemaehlich; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Arnold Gemaehlich.
Memorial donations are suggested to Our Savior Lutheran Church Building Fund or Davis Hospice.
