Robert Pimple Obituary
Robert "Bob" Anthony Pimple, Sr., 87, of Sterling passed away Sunday, June 15, 2014 in Brush. Visitation will be from 11 am to 6 pm Friday, June 20 at Tennant Funeral Home with Vigil and Rosary evening service following at 6 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 am Saturday, June 21 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with Rev. Robert Wedow celebrating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Bob was born on August 16, 1926 in Fleming, Colo. to Fred John Pimple and Martha Margaret (Kirsch) Pimple. He attended school at St. Anthony's Catholic School, and assisted his father in the local creamery business. Bob enlisted in the Navy, before his Senior year of high school, during WWII, where he was a sailor on the flight deck of the U.S.S. Cape Gloucester in the Pacific fleet. After returning from the service, Bob completed his GED through Northeastern Junior College, Sterling. On February 16, 1953 he married Lillian Marie Haberkorn at St. Anthony's Church. To this union was born infant Mary (deceased at birth) and later Robert "Bob" Pimple, Jr. Bob worked a variety of jobs before starting a 26 year long business known as Bob's Carpet Installation. He later worked in janitorial / maintenance for the bank building which is now Wells Fargo in Sterling. Bob is a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church, American Legion Post #20, and the Escort Carrier Sailor's & Airmen Association. He enjoyed playing and coaching many years of baseball and softball, as well as participating in many running, walking, and bike riding fundraisers in the local area. Bob was an artist who loved to enter his many oil paintings in the Logan County Fair each year. He also enjoyed showing his 1953 Studebaker in the NJC Auto Show each year. He was an avid fan of local sports as well as the Rockies and Broncos. Bob is survived by his son, Robert A. Pimple, Jr. (Lori); grandson Skyler Pimple (Jammie) of Sterling; granddaughter Erica Pimple Gardunio (Jake) of Loveland; great-granddaughter McKinley Pimple of Sterling; sister Mildred Tillson of Campton, New Hampshire; sisters-in-law Judy (Russ) Clodfelder, Shirley (Jerry, deceased) Manuello, Mary (Robert, deceased) Bellendir all of Sterling, Debbie (Joe) Miano of Glendale, Arizona and many nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his parents, wife Lillian, infant daughter Mary, brothers George and Bill, sisters Lucille Southard and Dorothy Applehans. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital c/o Tennant Funeral Home, PO Box 1574, Sterling, CO 80751.
