Sharon Grotts Obituary
Sharon Ann Grotts joined heaven peacefully with family by her side in Sterling, Colorado on August 20, 2014. She was born on Oct. 1, 1936 in Valentine Nebraska to Richard and Delores Nollette. Sharon grew up in Northwestern Nebraska as the oldest of eight children. A brave and determined young lady, she eventually made her way to the College of Saint Mary in Omaha, Nebraska where she studied to become a laboratory technologist. After some globe-trotting and living abroad in Australia for a year, she, her husband and two children returned to the states in 1972. They moved to the small community of Sterling, Colorado and settled into her beloved home on Ridge Road. Sharon worked for SterlingRegionalMedicalCenter for over 30 years, where she earned quite the reputation for her hard work, quick wit and generosity. Sharon was, above all things, a doting mother and grandmother. Her life revolved around the care and nurturing of the children in our family. Whether she was drawing smiley faces on Band-Aids, helping with homework, reading bedtime stories, leading yard expeditions for frogs, or putting kids through college, there was no place she'd rather have been. Her home was always full of children, excitement, and most of all, love. We will miss all the joy and laughter we had right by her side, but we are comforted by the lifetime of stories we'll always hold in our hearts. Sharon is survived by her children Denise Leeper (Scott) and Eric Grotts (Millie); Granddaughters Erin Hebert (Christopher),Christina Chafin (Dahryn Candelaria), Devon Welsh (Matt Boozell), Erica Grotts, Delissia Miller; Grandsons Ryan Grotts, Cade Grotts and Leighton Miller; Great Grandchildren Brendan Geiger, Seth Chafin, Teaghen Boozell, Jordynn Boozell, Jaykob Boozell, Mackensy Candelaria and Mikalynn Candelaria; Siblings Bruce Nollette, Jeannette Ward, Keith Nollette (Sally), John Nollette (Lynn), Roselyn Lane (John), and Thomas Nollette (Kathy); and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Doug Nollette. Memorial services to celebrate Sharon are as follows: Rosary Vigil at Tennant Funeral Home on Monday, August 25 at 6 p.m. Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 26 at 10 a.m. at Saint Anthony Catholic Church followed by interment at RiversideCemetery.
