Thomas "Thommy" Jobe Downen, 32, of Sterling, passed away Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, in Sterling with him and his family fighting for his life. Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30, at Tennant Funeral Home.
Thommy was born on Feb. 1, 1981, in Sterling to Dave O. and Sheryl (Moore) Downen. He went to Stevens Elementary from 1987-92, Prairie School from 1993-98, Darrell Smith High School, and graduated from Anaconda Job Corps as a certified Diesel Mechanic. He worked at Checker Auto Parts and most recently at Sykes.
He enjoyed fishing, motorcycles, cars, music, socializing with everyone and anyone, and being a mechanic. His favorite hobby was spending time with his family and especially his two nieces. Thommy had the biggest heart in the world. He would give anything to anyone, and was always ready to help anyone when he could. He looked for the good in every person that he met.
He is survived by his mother, Sheryl Downen of Stoneham; grandmother, Luella Walker of El Dorado, Kan.; brother, Ricky and sister-in-law Jodi of Willard; nieces, Jasmine and Madison of Willard; uncles, Rick Downen and wife Eileen, Terry Walker, Billy Moore, and Buster Moore and wife Gina, all of El Dorado; uncle, Joe Moore and wife Peggy of Wichita; great-aunt, Betty; aunts, Janice Humes and husband Jerry of Manhattan, Kan., Toni Warnick and husband Charlie of Iliff; 20 cousins; special friends, Jim and Janet Williams and John Iven of Sterling.
He was preceded in death by his father, Dave Downen; grandparents, Kenneth and Mabel Moore; grandfather, Roy Lee Downen; grandfather, Darrell Walker; and uncle, Dean Moore.
Memorials may be made to the Thomas "Thommy" Downen Memorial Fund in care of Tennant Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1547, Sterling, CO 80751.
