Thomas Ramirez Obituary

Thomas Ramirez, 69, of Haxtun, passed away Sept. 18, 2013, in Haxtun. Visitation for Tom was held Friday, Sept. 20, at Gerk Funeral Home in Haxtun. Rosary followed, with service being led by Fr. William Jungmann. Mass of the Christian Burial was held Saturday, Sept. 21, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Holyoke, with Fr. William Jungmann officiating.

Tom was born Sept. 22, 1943, in Cheraw, to Bessie and Francisco Tabares and welcomed into the loving home of Ray and Ester Hessler. Tom grew up in Merino and graduated from Merino High School and made his home in Haxtun with his wife of 29 years, Jodel (Kennedy) Ramirez.

Tom worked at Great Western Sugar for 22 years and the Colorado Department of Transportation for 12 years retiring in 1999. Tom spent his time gardening watching sports and spending time with his family and friends.

Tom is survived by his wife, Jodel; children, Debbie Ramirez and Cindy, Maria Ramirez, Michael and Nora, Christina Ramirez, Troy Dickerson and wife Stacey and Bailey, Tracy Dickerson and wife Deb, Courtny and Callie, Carol Morris, Holland and Sydney, Shawnda Derby and husband Kevin, Mason, Jenessa, Adria and Brayea, Misha Mooney and Carissa, Matthew Ramirez; great-grandchildren, Fox, Azalea, Robin and Jolie Ramirez; many nieces and nephews. His brothers are Fred Tabares and late wife Helen, Joe Tabares and wife Eileen, Tobby Martinez and late wife Tina, Eddie Clea and wife Florence, late Danny Martinez and wife Anna; and sisters, Gloria Chavez and husband Ben Ito, late Vera Guerro and husband Lupe, Esther Shoeboot and husband Clifford, Irene Encineas and husband Benjie, Christina Esquibel and husband John.
