Florence V "Flo" Kaufman Obituary
Florence "Flo" V. Kaufman, 91, of Sterling, died Wednesday, Feb. 13, 2013, in Sterling of natural causes. Viewing and visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 19, at Peace Lutheran Church, Sterling, with Pastor Wendy Kalan officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery.
Florence was born Jan. 10, 1922, in Sterling, to George and Marie (Roth) Walker. She attended Sterling schools, graduating from Sterling High School in 1940.
On April 26, 1942, Florence married Herbert Kaufman in Sterling. After Herbert's discharge in 1945 from the U.S. Army, they moved to a farm in Gering, Neb., returning to the Iliff/Proctor area with their children in 1959, where they farmed until retiring in October 1995, at which time they moved to Sterling.
Florence was a member of the Peace Lutheran Church, where she volunteered for various church functions. She devoted her life to being a homemaker and served as a bailiff for the Logan County Court System. Florence loved visiting with people, was an avid sports fan, loved playing cards with her family and friends and also enjoyed pottery, crafts, crocheting, embroidering and quilting. Her greatest love was the times she shared with her husband of 58 years, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many relatives and dear friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Dolan and husband Joe of Cheyenne, Wyo.; her sons, Doug Kaufman and wife Diana of Sterling and Stan Kaufman of Milliken; four grandchildren, Marc Dolan and wife Lana of Wellington, Michelle Rossman and husband Erin of Cheyenne, Wyo., Ryan Kaufman of Broomfield, and Brad Kaufman and wife Kelly of Mead; great-grandchildren, Easton and Luke Dolan, Maggie and Grant Rossman, Natalie and Drew Kaufman and Alyssa and Emily Kaufman; sister, Bernice Koenig and husband Don of Sterling; sister-in-law, Violet Schaffer of Sterling; sister-in-law, Alene Brown of Sun Lakes, Ariz.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert in 2000; infant son, Darrell in 1945; her mother, Marie in 1929; her father, George in 1980; sister, Sarah Kaiser in 1980; father-in-law, Carl in 1988; mother-in-law, Lydia in 1994; granddaughter-in-law, Bridget (Seboek) Kaufman in 2009; and numerous sisters- and brothers-in-law.
