Don Gibbs, 83, of Sterling, passed away Dec. 6, 2013, in Sterling. Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, 2013, at the Haxtun Community Center in Haxtun. Inurnment will be at Haxtun Cemetery.
Don was born Aug. 21, 1930, in Haxtun to Ellsworth and Bertha Ann (Becker)?Gibbs.
He did custom harvesting in 1949 with his father, and in 1950 he owned and operated Gibbs Brothers custom harvesting. Don retired in 1996. Through the years he drilled water wells, worked at the sugar factory and farmed and ranched.
On Aug. 6, 1950, he married Patricia M. Anderson in Dailey.
Don was a member of Rockland United Methodist Church. He loved John Wayne movies, hunting and camping.
He is survived by his wife, Pat Gibbs of Sterling; sons, Jim Gibbs of Sterling and Tony Gibbs of Sterling; daughters, Daffeny Sampson of Akron, Penny Henry and husband Bob of Fort Lupton, Kimberly Ostendorf and husband Lee of Kansas City, Mo., Peggy Gertner and husband Ken of Greeley; brother, Wayne Gibbs and wife Margaret of Haxtun; sister, Shirley Donnahoo and husband Bill of Benton, Kan.; grandchildren, Donald, Jaime, Casey, Mellissa, Cristin, Taylor, Sami, Rikki, Brie, Kamron, Ryley, Greg and Mackenzie; and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Gail Gibbs; grandson, Nickolas Henry; son-in-law, Syvert Sampson; brothers, Melvin and Darrald Gibbs.
