Margaret Jean Kinkade Obituary
Margaret Jean Kinkade, 84, of Sterling passed away Dec. 25, 2013, in Sterling. Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at Tennant Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31, at Faith United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jodie Harless officiating. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Margaret was born July 29, 1929, in Burchard, Neb., to Jamie and Mabel (Tennant) Dort. She grew up in Burchard and Pawnee City, Neb., attending the Cracker Box School, a one room school, and Pawnee City High, graduating in 1946. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church.

Margaret married Paul V. Kinkade on Jan. 10, 1949, in Pawnee City, Neb. Two children were born to this union, Karen Marie and Beth Ann. They moved to Colorado in 1952, living in Brush for a time then moving to Sterling, where Paul worked in the oil field. Margaret was a stay at home mom until Paul was injured on the job and was unable to work for a period of time.

Margaret worked for C.F. Woolworth Department Store for eight years, kept books for Donbar LP Gas and held several positions at the Holiday Inn for 10 years. She loved to crochet, read and work crossword puzzles.

She is survived by daughter, Beth Lechman and husband DuWayne of Sterling; two grandchildren, Melissa (Japp) Fenster of Casper, Wyo., Melinda (Japp) Kelly and husband Shannon of Guernsy, Wyo.; four great-grandchildrenm, TeJay and TyLee Fenster of Casper, Wyo., and Afton and Chase Kelly of Guernsy, Wyo.; two nieces, Diana (Knox) Harting and husband Ray of Arkansas and Diane Knox of Lincoln, Neb.; and many great-nieces, nephews and cousins.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; one brother; two sisters; husband, Paul of 32 years; daughter, Karen Japp; and nephew, John Knox Jr.
