Donald R. Setsky, 78, of Enfield, loving husband of Evelyn M. (Pointek) Setsky, passed away on Thursday, March 21, 2013, at Parkway Pavilion with his family by his side.
Donald was born Feb. 15, 1935, in Hartford, the son of the late John and Anna (Rosick) Setsky. Don proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and retired from Dufford Construction of Glastonbury after several years. Don also known as "Mr. Fix It" to his family and friends enjoyed tinkering and woodworking and could often be found at his workbench.
In addition to his wife, Evelyn, of 53 years, he is survived by four daughters, JoAnn Meyers, and her partner, Sara, Judy Norris, and her husband, John, Dawn Stokes, and her husband, Gregory, all of Enfield, and Denise Crosson of East Haddam; 10 grandchildren, Brian Meyers, Nikkole Nelson, Chelsea Moule, Katie and Andrew Norris, Meagan and Peter Talbot, Mary Ellen Desmaris, Angela Nelson and Greg Stokes Jr.; great-grandchildren, Julianna, Zakary and Jaden Nelson, Izabel Best, Derek and Dillon Desmaris, and Maddison Nelson; two sisters, Agnes Dubanoski of Vernon and Frances Legienza, and her husband, George, of Enfield; a brother, James Setsky, and his wife, Carol, of Manchester. Don was predeceased by two granddaughters, Kristen and Kymberly Meyers.
Don's family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Parkway for the compassionate and wonderful care he received.
Relatives and friends are welcome to join the family on Tuesday, March 26, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield.
A funeral service for Don will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in St. Catherine Cemetery Broad Brook.
In lieu flowers, memorial donations may be made to Riley's School of Dance Scholarship Fund, 99 Raffia Road, Enfield, CT 06082; or to Enfield Loaves and Fishes, P.O. Box 544, Enfield, CT 06083-0544.
