Judith Mercier Obituary

Judith "Judy" L. (Evoy) Mercier, 62, of Somers, loving wife and caregiver of her husband, Richard E. Mercier, passed away unexpectedly at home on Feb. 2, 2013.

Judy was born June 24, 1950, in Rockville, the loving daughter of the late Edward and Eileen Evoy. Judy was a longtime resident of Somers. She and her husband, Richard, were volunteers with the Four Town Fair. Judy acted as its secretary for over 40 years with her friend, Janice.

In addition to her husband, Richard, she is also survived by a daughter, Michelle Vargo, and her husband, Robert; two loving grandchildren, Zack and Chloe Vargo (whom she adored) all of Somers. She is also survived by many friends who became family after years of love and support from the Steinmetz, Leonard, Carpenter, and Petkis families. Judy was predeceased by her two brothers, Ed and Bill Evoy.

Funeral services for Judy are private and burial will be at the convenience of the family.

Judy's final act was to give the gift of life through tissue donation. She would be happy to know that her end was another's chance for healing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Four Town Fair, P.O. Box 24, Somers, CT 06071-0024.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Somers Funeral Home.

I just found out this morning that Judy had passed. I spoke to Judy a few times a year planning entertainment for the Four Town Fair. I always enjoyed our conversations. Rest in peace Judy, and thank you for your dedicated service to the fair over all these years!
