Dorothy (Belliveau) Gahr, 85, of Enfield, entered into eternal rest on Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at Parkway Pavilion Healthcare.
Born on Aug. 29, 1927, in Somers, she was the loving daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Richard) Belliveau, and the beloved wife of the late John A. Gahr. Dorothy worked for Broad Brook and Somersville Mills and she later worked for Hamilton Standard for 27 years, retiring in 1989. She was a member of the Retiree's Club and a fan of the UConn women's basketball team. Dorothy was a faithful communicant of St. Bernard Church, where she was a member of the Rosary Guild and participated in the church craft group. She will be sadly missed by all of her family and friends.
Dorothy leaves behind her loving sons, Jack Gahr, and his wife, Gail, of Broad Brook, Mark Gahr, and his wife, Susan, of Enfield, and Michael Gahr, and his wife, Deneen, of Enfield; her daughter-in-law, Darlene Gahr of Stafford; her brother, Richard Belleveau of Somersville; her two sisters, Ruth Badura, and her husband, Bob, of Somers, and Shirley Jenkins, and her husband, Charles, of Maine; her nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, plus many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was predeceased by her son, Mel Gahr; two brothers; and one sister.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Parkway Pavilion for the compassion and care they provided to Dorothy while she was there.
Visitation hours will be today, Nov. 5, 2012, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Leete-Stevens Enfield Chapels, 61 South Road, Enfield.
Family and friends may gather at Leete-Stevens on Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at 9: 30 a.m. for procession to St. Bernard Church, 426 Hazard Ave., Enfield, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Enfield.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bernard Church, 426 Hazard Ave., Enfield, CT 06082, or to a charity of one's choice.
